Community

Community is where we share purpose, support, and belonging. It strengthens us through cooperation, compassion and the understanding that we grow together. MA Centre UK runs events throughout the year to support the diverse communities who benefit from the centre.

Ecological Awareness

GreenFriends movement is the environmental branch of Amma’s organisation, focusing on how to respect and love nature in our daily lives. We bring the local community together for annual events such as ‘Get Growing’ courses, tree planting and our annual Seed Swap which takes place in the Spring. We love sharing our passion and expertise with enthisiastic gardeners and complete beginners alike.

Annapurna Café

Festival and event catering

We are a volunteer‑run community space serving delicious vegetarian treats—from bliss balls and muffins to Indian street food favourites like bhelpuri and dosas. Rooted at MA Centre UK and present at outdoor events, we share Amma’s message while raising funds for her charities. Every dish is made from scratch with fresh, wholesome ingredients, celebrating healthy living and caring for the planet. Amrita Café invites everyone to come together, savour good food, and be part of a heartfelt mission that nourishes both body and spirit.

Cultural Events

‘Amritotsav’, meaning festival, is the name given to our cultural events programme to which we invite performers of outstanding reputation. Our first concert at Amrita Hall featured two of the finest Indian musicians of our time. Renowned vocalist Chandra Chakraborty was joined by tabla virtuoso Shahbaz Hussain, who immersed us in the magnificence of Indian music in a two hour festival of sound.

Community Giving

We support a number of charities throughout the year by making donations, gift buying, supplying hall hire requirements, and by sponsoring a Careers Day in partnership with Bromley Well.

Community consultations

Hosted by MA Centre and conducted by the Bromley Police Force, these consultation sessions served as an opportunity to listen to the local concerns of the local community. We ran also an IAM20 meditation programme to help explain what we do.

IAM Meditation for everyone

A simple, powerful practice

IAM20 is a 20-minute meditation with no religious symbolism created by Amma. Aimed at SMEs, corporations, hospitals, prisons, universities and all types of orgnaisation.
