Thank you Amma!

After six long years, Amma returned to the UK to inspire, uplift and embrace us with her love. Many thanks to the 1000+ volunteers who made the programme possible, and to everyone who came to experience and share Amma’s love and compassion in action.

Join us at Amma’s UK centre in Bromley, South London, or join a local group and keep her love and teachings alive all year long!

FAQ

Getting to Sandown Park

By Car
Satnav: Enter Portsmouth Road, Esher, not the postcode. This ensures you will arrive in the main car park, directly in front of the main entrance.

Take the M25 to Junction 10 then follow the A3 towards London. Exit onto the A307 and follow the brown venue signs to Sandown Park Racecourse.

Visit the carpooling website for Amma’s Europe tour at travelwithamma.eu

By Train
The venue is a 10 minute walk from Esher station. Trains leave central London from Waterloo Station and take approximately 30 minutes.

Check the South Eastern Railway website for up to date information. Please be aware that it is usually cheaper to buy your ticket in advance and book your return journey at the same time.

By Air
The venue is a 30 minute drive from Heathrow Airport and a 45 minute drive from Gatwick airport. You can reach Sandown Park by train from either airport.

How can I get a token?

A token system is set up to allow you to enjoy the activities offered in the hall while waiting for your embrace.

This free token is distributed onsite only before each programme, on a first-come, first-served basis. Each person, including babies, must be present to receive their token.

Amma’s visit attracts a growing number of people, so there can be long lines to receive tokens, and then to receive her embrace.

Planning to arrive early is the best option. If you arrive late, you may only have a darshan token for the next programme.

How can I join the darshan queue ?

Your darshan token will have a number. When your number is displayed, it is time to join one of the two lines that lead to Amma.

If you wish, fruits, plants and garlands can be purchased at the entrance of the darshan line. These offerings are a traditional custom in India as symbols of our gratitude.

What if I need assistance ?

A team is available to welcome and accompany people requiring special assistance: people in wheelchairs, with reduced mobility and with serious health problems. We welcome these persons in a reserved area and keep a space inside the halls to facilitate their movements. The lobbies usually have access for disabled people.

Only one person can accompany the person requiring assistance. Other family members will need to join the main queue.

Important: there is no priority of passage, so please allow sufficient time.

What are the onsite services ?

  • Vegetarian, Indian and Western food services
  • Clothes, CDs, books, incense, photos, jewels, ayurvedic products etc. and the astrology services are open in the hall.
  • Information tables on India and Amma’s ashram in India
  • Interactive table about Amma’s humanitarian initiatives (Embracing the World)
  • Local country’s table
  • IAM and Matruvani table
  • Accommodation and carpooling area
  • Sometimes there is a children’s area

What are some customs and regulations ?

  • Children must be under the supervision of an adult at all times.
  • No use of alcohol, tobacco, vaping or illegal drugs is allowed on the programme premises.
  • Pets are not permitted in the programmes. There can be an exception for service animals.
  • No audio or video recording or photography is permitted.
  • As per the Indian tradition, people are kindly requested to take off their shoes in some areas of the programme

Why are the programs free of charge ?

In each country, hundreds to thousands of volunteers make it possible to invite Amma.

We aim at balancing the expenses of the event thanks to the meals, benefits and specific programme donations. This allows us to ensure that the proceeds from the stores and donations made during the programme are fully donated to Amma’s humanitarian initiatives, and the public can continue to enjoy Amma’s visit for free.

Can I bring a pet to the program ?

Pets are not permitted in the programmes.

There can be an exception for licensed service animals.

Volunteer (Seva)

Amma UK is a grassroots organisation rooted in volunteering. Amma’s UK visit is run entirely by volunteers and we need as many hands and hearts as possible to make the programme a success. You are welcome to volunteer for a few hours or throughout the programme, including set up day on Wednesday 19 November.
